“I’d still do what I’m doing now. It’s the same everywhere.”
“Things aren’t that bleak. I know plenty of happily married people. Not all women are like that.”
“You don’t think so?”
“Of course not. I look at the world, and it isn’t the way you say.”
“Dad, look at your children, and your nieces and nephews.”
He frowns, “I don’t think . . .”
I’m tempted to agree with him. “Let me finish. There’s eleven of them. There are five girls. Two of them are single moms, never gotten married. One married, cheated, divorced, married, cheated divorced. One of them is well educated, never married and never will have kids. . .”
“That’s not a nice thing to say.”
“But its true. The last one is fat, but married with a kid.”
“Son, some things-”
“-don’t need to be said. But that’s the point, Dad, they need to be said. Now of the six boys, four of them got married, and two of them got divorced. One’s never gotten laid and probably never will and then there’s me, leading a life you don’t approve of.”
“Well, some of those girls were messed up . . .”
“That’s my point dad. We’re solidly middle class America and over half of the marriages at my generation in our family have ended in divorce. Of the five women, two are single moms. Single Moms! The national average is 38%, so it’s a little high for the national average, but not by much. 20% of white women never have kids, 25% of educated ones don’t. Pretty spot on. One is married and nothing special to be around and the other seems to serial marry and divorce.”
“It’s not like that.” He shakes his head.
He will not see what is in front of him.
This is but one family, you might say in argument.
Yet the national statistics bear out that my family is not unique. My family is in fact the epitome of the American family.
38% of women in this country are single moms. In my generation, it is close to the national statistic.
20% of white women will never have children. 25% if they are educated.
50% of marriages end in divorce.
I ask you right now, what society can survive that kind of damage?
There are some that think I am pessimistic, misogynistic and that my views on feminism are too extreme.
I tell you they aren’t extreme at all.
The truth is in front of you.
It is too late to save western civilization.
It’s over.
